5 Brecknock Crescent June 19 My dear Sir

Allow me to express – with far more warmth than usually appertains to a business-correspondence – my sincere thanks for your kindness & consideration –

I am anxious to begin the additional chapters at once. To do this – will you request the printer to send me immediately – (tomorrow if possible) either M.S. manuscript or proofs of Vol 3. entire.

I have already had – & returned corrected – proofs up to p. page 113. Since your letter I have received four sheets more – which rather surprised me, as of course the interpolated chapters will cause alteration of paging, &c –

These four sheets I still retain – but lest the printer might be going on without your knowledge I wrote to him today (anonymously as The author of &c) requesting him to print no more until he had seen you on the subject.

If I receive vol volume III directly I shall be able to return it with the additions by the end of the month – in any case I will not leave home until the novel is in your hands complete.

I should like to know exactly how much of my MS. pages will be required to make up the vol volume – that there may be no unnecessary wire-drawing in the writing.

believe me, dear Sir Your sincerely obliged DMMulock –

E. Chapman Esq – I will complete & send the Xmas Christmas book immediately on my return to Town –
