                    line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik uses a non-standard spelling, we
                    have encoded both her spelling and the standard Oxford English Dictionary spelling to
                    faciliate searching. The long s is not encoded.</p>

                    kindest love – He has <unclear reason="illegible">still</unclear> an awful
                    weakness for kissing &amp; laying his head down &amp; looking up – just like a
                    baby – Love to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#HerfordLaura">Laura</persName>
                    &amp; best remembrances to the other two of you – </p>
