                    accurately as possible without reproducing the physical appearance of the
                    manuscript. Craik’s spelling, punctuation, underlining, superscripts,
                    abbreviations, additions and deletions are retained, except for words which are
                    hyphenated at the end of a line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik
                    uses a non-standard spelling, we have encoded both her spelling and the standard
                    Oxford English Dictionary spelling to faciliate searching. The long s is not
                    encoded.</p>

                <p> I forgot in my last note to make one remark. I suppose there is no reason for
                        “<title corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#AliceLearmont">Alice Learmont</title>”
                    to appear anonymously. Therefore I would like it to be “<hi rend="underline">By
                        the author of <title corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Olive">Olive</title></hi>.”
                    &amp; – With the proofs came neither title-page nor dedication page. Will you
                    make a point of these being sent with the revise?</p>
                <p> – By the bye – after <date when="1851-11-25" precision="high">Tuesday
                        next</date>, all proofs must be sent to <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#CamdenStreet">18 Camden St. North</placeName> – As I
                    leave <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#DouneTerrace">Doune Terrace</placeName>
                    on <date when="1851-11-27" precision="high">Thursday</date> – &amp; shall reach

Therefore I would like it to be “By the author of Olive .” & – With the proofs came neither title-page nor dedication page. Will you make a point of these being sent with the revise?

– By the bye – after Tuesday next, all proofs must be sent to 18 Camden St. North – As I leave Doune Terrace on Thursday – & shall reach home on Saturday Nov November 29 th
