<l>In wonder toward the setting stars:</l>
<l>At dawn, incoming wayfarers</l>
<l>Begin to batter at the bars.</l>

<l>And as the east grows dimly red,</l>
<l>Alone, unarmed, each enters in,</l>
<l>Oh, foolish, brave past all romance,</l>
<l>Naked to every wind of chance.</l>
